Pearson’s Global Digital Channels and Experience team is looking for a Vice President of UX and Design to lead a team that works on excellence in customer to employee-facing usability. We need a master at removing friction from digital experiences with an ability to think strategically, look at the business analytically, obsess about the customer and implement with speed.

As the Vice President of UX and design, you’ll be the company’s tastemaker across digital channels: developing and evolving the overall look-and-feel of our websites, ecommerce storefronts and over time on mobile sites, apps and more. Leading a team of UX/UI designers and researchers, content and SEO specialist and strategist you will be responsible for defining the overall UX , design and customer experience strategy for all customer-facing websites starting with Pearson.com. This leadership role will conceptualize, create and deploy experiences utilized by millions of online users and learners. You will be charged with establishing user centric experience as a key strategy for the organization and making it an intrinsic part of the company's culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the overall strategy, planning, prioritization and execution for the end-user experience

  • Oversee all research and design operations including the infrastructure, team and vendor management across all phases of the design life cycle. Lead the creation of UX artifacts including customer research and analysis, feature/flow architecture, wireframes, prototypes, content strategy, and design.

  • Establish the design methodologies and processes that will be used in the design and development lifecycle, integrating with the Agile delivery model

  • Collaborate with strategic partners and leaders within the organization in the delivery of extraordinary experiences

  • Oversee the collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Technology and Product through discovery workshops and projects ensuring the ideation and design process elevates our work to best-in-class level.

  • Collaborate with developers and QE to deliver polished final product. Lead activities such as customer journeys, heuristic reviews and usability testing.

  • Grow, mentor and build a high performing team of skilled user experience professionals

  • Lead, Inspire, Mentor and Develop others on the team and influence related product areas outside your area

  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee initiatives ensuring that all designs are executed on time and at the highest quality levels.

  • Function as the lead authority for UX acceptance of Go To Market deliverables, ensuring nothing goes to market that does not adhere to exceptional UX standards

Qualifications

Must Have Attributes :

  • Online or digital portfolio demonstrating breadth and depth in UX and visual design, conceptual thinking, and creative problem solving across platforms.

  • Extensive experience in UX, Visual Design and user research, strong leadership experience with the ability to recruit, train, motivate and provide professional development for a high performing team

  • Ability to serve as a 'hands on' leader and a willingness to lead by example

  • Ability to be highly collaborative with a focus on results. Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices - and you're always looking to improve on your process

  • Power to influence others and build consensus, while dealing with ambiguity

  • Ability to produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team

  • Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines

  • Experience using analytics, user research and other approaches to help make decisions and iterate on the product

  • Expert knowledge of design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Axure, Photoshop etc

  • Required: Experience managing teams of other designers

  • Required: eCommerce solution experience

  • Required: Enterprise CMS experience

Nice to Have Attributes :

  • Familiarity with Agile working methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Hybris.

  • Familiarity with AEM.
