* Summary*

The Business Development/Inside Sales Manager is a key member of the Business Development team, which collaborates with senior academic leaders of universities and colleges on long-term partnerships for online learning services.The ideal individual for this position enjoys a dynamic environment where no two days are the same -- someone who possesses a balance of high-energy, creativity, attention to deal, structured thinking, excellent verbal and written communications.S/he brings an outgoing personality and feels equally comfortable picking up the phone to reach out to a prospective client as s/he does diving into the details to manage leads in our CRM system.

We are seeking a high-potential individual who will contribute day one individually and, with success in the role and as a team, could grow into a team leader for an expanded inside sales group.This position is responsible for cultivating and coordinating new business development opportunities and activities for potential partners and clients, providing the necessary sales support to succeed in closing new business for the company. This position works closely with the Business Development Team to provide support in growing, qualifying and initiating targeted opportunities that meet stringent sales criteria.

* General Responsibilities*

The major responsibilities are as follows:

Account Research & Analysis

●Stay current on the competitive market for online learning services

●Develop understanding of key decision makers, program interests, etc., at target accounts

●Build and maintain the target lead database related to the targeting strategy

●Manage, organize, and qualify new business opportunities for the company, providing preliminary research and qualification against a prescribed target sales strategy for new partners. Handle incoming new leads into the company and work closely with the assigned Business Development account managers.

●Work closely with the Business Development Team to provide sales support across all targeted accounts, developing detailed account plan strategies to better prioritize and rank new program opportunities for the company through focused outreach tactics that help clarify our corporate value propositions, and differentiators to potentially shorten the sales cycle.

Leads Management / Follow-Up

●Create a lead database with coding standards -- owning the integrity of the coding, and maintaining such coding.This includes owning the methods to track, report, and generate quality leads

●Follow up on initial leads generated by Marketing and in partnership with the BD outside sales team to vet initial interest by partner stakeholders

●Collaborate with Marketing on event-marketing outreach

●Manage, qualify, and prioritize leads/opportunities to match available internal resources

Marketing and Presentation Development

●Partner with the Research and Search and Interactive Marketing Teams to perform preliminary search volume analysis on target programs for potential new partners to assess potential degree demand and gauge marketplace viability

●Prepare BD outside sales team for strong initial interactions with vetted prospects

●Help develop custom presentations using Marketing materials (e.g., plan for presenting to University X)

●Engage with internal stakeholders to track the status of research and presentation deliverables

●Work with RFP teams to help coordinate RFP/RFI responses

Key Measures of Success

●Create and maintain high-quality target database.

●Increase the number and quality of target contact appointments and meetings

●Help secure closed new partners, programs, and related sales activities

Qualifications

* General Qualifications*

  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Marketing or equivalent discipline OR appropriate combination of experience and education

  • Experience in the higher education industry preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree highly desired, Master’s in Business or related field desirable

  • 5-8 years minimum experience in marketing, sales, business development, or related discipline

  • Great attention to detail, excellent organizational & project management skills

  • Professional oral, written and communication skills for effective contact and presentation with stakeholders

  • Strong analytical skills, with a track record of developing actionable recommendations from quantitative data

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office particularly Excel

  • The ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure with tight timelines

  • Ability to work in teams and individually

  • Blend of confidence to promote your ideas and solid listening skills to learn and adjust

  • History of creativity and innovation balanced by structured thinking

  • Strong track record of getting things done on time with high quality balanced by a sense of urgency and “agile” mindset
